These rules and regulations are intended to guide anyone who is constructing, repairing, or extending any sanitary sewer facilities outside the structure which are, or are intended to be, connected to the sewer system of Union Williams P.S.D. This information is, as the heading indicates, rules and regulations of acceptable practice. It is not possible for these rules to cover every possible situation or question. If you have questions regarding sanitary sewer installations, please contact the Union Williams P.S.D. at 464-5121.
INSPECTION
Any customer service pipe repair or construction, whether on public or private property, must be inspected by Union Williams personnel before any backfilling of excavation is performed. These inspections can be performed Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Notify the office at 464-5121 when requesting an inspection.
Inspections cannot be performed on weekends or legal holidays, Customer service pipe repair or construction which has not been inspected and approved by Union Williams personnel will not be accepted for use. Sewers which have not been inspected will have to be totally uncovered so that the inspection can be performed. A minimum of 24 hours is required for an inspection to be completed. A sewer tap fee must be paid before the inspection of the customer's line can be performed. The sewer tap fee will be $350.00.
MATERIALS
- Required pipe materials consist of ABS and PVC "plastic" pipe, Schedule 40, or SDR 35.
- All joints are to be of watertight construction with factory fabricated fittings. No Oakum, black mastic or cement joints are to be accepted.
- Some approved fittings consist of 22 ½0, 30°, and 45° - 90° fittings and Fernco couplings will not be accepted.
- Minimum pipe diameter outside of structure - 4 inch.
- All bells will be laid upgrade.
- Minimum 2% grade (1/4 inch per foot) and maximum of 7% (3/4 inch per foot)
- A drop connection will be used to adjust steep grades
- Minimum pipe depth is 18 in.
- Property owner is to make sure building lines are properly trapped
GENERAL INFORMATION
- Tapping of sanitary sewer main lines and manholes is to be done only by Union Williams P.S.D. personnel.
- No storm water or ground water connections are to be made to any sanitary sewer facility. This prohibition includes roof drains, driveway drains, foundation drains and any basement drains intended to remove ground water.
- No septic tanks or septic drain fields may be connected to sanitary sewer.
- The home or business will not be required to connect to our sewer service if they are located more than 250 feet from the main sewer line.
